Event Information

GovHack is an annual open government data competition held across New Zealand and Australia. In 2020 it will be held on the weekend of 14th - 16th August. In 46 hours teams create project pages, proof of concepts, and a video that tells the story of how government data can be reused to address challenges to make out communities better places.

Join us at The NGEN Room, Whangarei where adult and youth competitors will be able to participate at one of the physical events in New Zealand.

Based in the Town Basin of Whangarei, The NGEN Room is a teaching and co-working space. There is good WiFi (and ethernet) along with all the other facilities for making working easy.

The competition will be launching beginning at 6.30pm NZST Friday 14 August with a New Zealand-wide livestream and the competition will officially be launched at 7.00pm NZST. After the livestream, join us and your fellow participants on the GovHack Slack. We will be using Slack and Zoom extensively throughout the weekend to engage with you and other participants. Specific connection information to the Zoom sessions will be distributed closer to the weekend.

GovHack is a free event to attend for all competitors.
